Prevent spam in blog post comments in the Orchard CMS

  1. Turn on the built in Anti-Spam module (Modules > Security > Anti-Spam).
  2. Turn on an Anti-Spam Filter (Akismet, TypePad, or both).
    1. I used Akismet. It is free for personal blogs and easy .
  3. Configure Spam (Settings > Spam).
    1. A ReCaptcha key takes 2 minutes.
    2. An Akismet key takes 2 minutes.
    3. The links are in the configuration pages.
    4. Both are free.
  4. Add the Java Script Anti Spam, Re Captcha, and Spam Filter content parts to the Comment content type.
    1. Do we need all three?
  5. Use CSS and placement.info to tweak the UI.
  6. Automatically close comments after a few days (Settings > Comments) if you like.
